our history

In June of 1992, Pastor Mark and his wife, Susie, began a small group in their home. Within three months they were holding Sunday morning worship services in their garage. While searching for a more permanent facility, they learned a church within our conference was looking for a pastor. With Pastor Mark's personal drive and leadership style, pastoring an existing church was not an option. After much prayer and planning, God brought the two groups together as one. After locking the doors of the existing church and removing any remnants of what was, New Beginnings was birthed in November of 1992, with 35 faith-filled believers.

By 1995, we had grown to two morning services. In 1999, we had maxed out the facility and parking at 200, and decided to relocate. The old Carter Lumber site was purchased that same year and Building 1 was remodeled immediately. New Beginnings moved in January 1, 2000. We soon maxed out our 240 seat sanctuary in two services. Once again we found ourselves in need of more space. The Phase II building project began in the spring of 2004. We moved into our 600 seat sanctuary in the newly remodeled Building 2 and we continue to venture into the world to be an impactful force for God's Kingdom.

In the years that followed, New Beginnings had a vision to plant 5 churches in 10 years. With God's help, we were able to plant:

  • Passion Community Church (Mt. Zion, IL): Our first church, "Passion Community Church" was planted over 12 years ago. Located in Mt. Zion, Illinois, "Passion" continues to be a vibrant part of the community. In fact, they have an average weekly attendance over 200 and have gone to two services.

  • Iglesia De Nuevo Comienzo (Church of the New Beginning) (El Mango Limpio, Dominican Republic): Following the teachings of Jesus to go into all the world, we planted our second church in 2012 in a tiny village in the Dominican Republic called El Mango Limpio. The church, "Iglesia De Nuevo Comienzo" (Church of the New Beginning) recently moved into its new worship facility where they are averaging over 100 people weekly. "Nuevo Comienzo" has multiplied twice and started two new churches in the area called: "Agua Para Los Sedientos," and "Nuevo Renacer Iglesia."

  • Jerusalem City of Peace (Calabozo, Venezuela): Our third church plant took us to a small village in Venezuela called Calabozo in December of 2013. The church, "Jerusalem City of Peace," continues to impact the community and its congregation is averaging over 110 people.

  • Agua Para Los Sedientos (Water For The Thirsty) (Vicentillo, Dominican Republic): Planted as a daughter church of Iglesia de Nuevo Comienzo, Pastor Beatrice and her husband have been continually impacting their community and reaching those who otherwise would never hear the Gospel of Jesus.

  • Nuevo Renacer Church (New Reborn Church) (Hato Mayor, Dominican Republic): The second plant to come out of "Nuevo Comienzo". Nuevo Renacer Church is lead by Pastor Santo Castillo who brought a core group of 7 people with him from Nuevo Comienzo. Though it is our newest church, the Lord has already brought 7 of His children into His Kingdom and 8 more have been baptized.
